A former serviceman passed away a week before his 83rd birthday.

Ernest Feetham, from Burnt Oak, died suddenly at the beginning of July in the Daniel Almshouses in Hendon, where he spent the final years of his life.

Mr Feetham completed National Service in Egypt during the 1950s and served in the Merchant Navy, however spent most of his life living in Mill Hill.

One of his daughters, Vanessa Ayres, said: "Dad did not want flowers, but we welcome any donations towards a bench and a bird table for the communal garden of Daniel Almshouses where he spent many an hour enjoying the garden birds."

Mr Feetham leaves behind four children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His funeral takes place on July 28 at Hendon Crematorium, Holders Hill Road at 3pm, before moving to The Claddagh Ring, Church Lane.
