Green spaces have retained their award winning status ranking them among the best in the country.

Six parks in Hertsmere have kept their Green Flag Awards as part of the national celebration Love Parks Week held from July 14 to 21.

The spaces have been maintained by Hertsmere Borough Council’s grounds maintenance contractor John O’Connor, Hertsmere Leisure and countless volunteers.

The King George Recreation Ground in Bushey has held the accolade for 19 years, followed by Oakmere Park in Potters Bar which has received the award 15 times.

Aberford Park in Borehamwood has held the title for a decade signifying the space is maintained to the highest standards, has excellent facilities and is well-managed.

This is the ninth year that the Parkfield in Potters Bar and the Fishers Field Nature Reserve, Bushey have qualified for the award, with Fishers Field being praised for work carried out by volunteers in partnership with the council.

Bushey Rose Garden has been accredited as a Green Heritage Site due to the historic features and standard of conservation for the seventh year in a row.

Borehamwood Four Parks Friends Group, Friends of Bushey Rose Garden, Friends of Fishers Field, Friends of King George Recreation Ground and the Friends of Potters Bar Parks were all recognised for their hard work to make these green spaces great.

The new website about parks in the county https://www.parksherts.co.uk/ shows what activities and facilities are available in each of the spaces.
