Dangerous cycling and anti-social behaviour is being challenged by neighbours and local authorities.

This comes after numerous complaints in recent weeks of young people doing wheelies in the road, holding up traffic, cutting up vehicles up across the borough and near McDonalds in Shenley Road and the High Street.

Officers from the Borehamwood and Elstree Safer Neighbourhood Team are working with Hertsmere Borough Council and local residents to put an end to this.

Sergeant Alistair Jones said: “It’s only a matter of time someone is seriously injured or killed following a number of near-misses.

“We are working hard to deal effectively with this reckless behaviour, which not only puts the young people’s lives in danger but compromises the safety of other road users.

“We also need parents to do their bit by reminding young people about the consequences of their actions.

“I’d also be interested to receive any dash cam footage of the offending cyclists so that we can take appropriate action.”
