A Hindu temple is welcoming members of the public to share their culture in its annual family open day.

Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna Temple, Hilfield Lane will be opening its doors to people of all faiths on Saturday, July 1.

Guests can explore the George Harrison Garden, look around the temple room and learn more about the spiritual aspects of yoga and meditation to learn more about the religion.

People of all ages will be able to embrace parts of the tradition by trying on a sari, riding in an ox-cart and milking a cow on the farm.

Children can enjoy the bouncy castle, face painting and woodland walks around the grounds.

There will be a selection of vegetarian foods available for guests with a free lunch at 2pm.

Bhaktivedanta Manor’s Communications Secretary Radha Mohan said: “There is a lot going on and we welcome first-time visitors.

“We hold one big open day each year as we think it is important to reach out and engage with members of the public, not only with the historical and spiritual things we have to offer.

"It is important for people all different faiths to come together by opening the doors to people."

The temple opened in 1973 and is the largest UK centre of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)

The Grade II-listed building and the grounds in Radlett were donated by the late Beatles member George Harrison.

The temple is home to more than 60,000 visitors each year for religious festivals such as Janmashtami.
