One of cinema’s most iconic heroes – Sir Roger Moore – has died at the age of 89 following a short battle with cancer.

His family confirmed he died in Switzerland on Tuesday after a “short but brave” battle with the disease.

A post from his official Twitter page read: “With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today.

“We are all devastated.”

Sir Roger made his name at Elstree Studios where he spent seven years filming The Saint, but was best known for his portrayal of suave spy James Bond.
