The Mayor of Hertsmere visited a charity to see their inter-faith outreach programmes.

Goods for Good, a UK registered charity based of Theobald Street, in Borehamwood, sends out a life-line of everyday goods to 50 refugee camps in Northern Iraq where families live in desperate conditions.

Today Mayor of Hertsmere Peter Rutledge visited the warehouse and learnt about their volunteer inter-faith programme and helped pack and sort items to send to the refugees.

Found of the charity Rosalind Bluestone said: "Our volunteers come from as far as Essex and Pinner.

"In addition to the large volume of goods which come in from the community, we are also collecting 40’ truckloads of overstocked goods from British industry.

"We send goods to Moldova, Ukraine, the Philippines, to mention a few.

"Our sole mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people through one simple concept; delivering donated overstocked goods from the UK to those in need, wherever they may be. In only two and a half years the charity has delivered more than £7.5m-worth of goods to 12 countries."
