Concerns have been raised following an announcement to close part of a busy roundabout and place a one way system along main roads.
Hertfordshire County Council and their contractors Ringway plan to close part of Barnet Lane from Stirling Corner to Farriers Way roundabout.
This closure, which will take place from April 3 to 7, is for bus stop upgrades along the stretch of road.
Special one-way restrictions will be in place along other main roads across Borehamwood including Allum Lane, Barnet Lane, Shenley Road and Elstree Way.
Andrew Lewis, chairman of the Elstree and Borehamwood Residents Association, said: "Hertfordshire County Council has done minimal advertising for this. "I contacted them and got nowhere. I believe this closure should be posted on electronic boards to tell the residents of the changes."
Mr Lewis has also been in contact with Hertfordshire County councillor Leon Reefe.
Fran Ward, communications officer at Hertfordshire County Council, said: "The decision was made to undertake these works over the Easter holidays, to take advantage of the reduced traffic on the network.
"A one way closure was deemed the most appropriate form of traffic management.
"A full closure would cause more disruption, as would temporary lights due to the proximity of the roundabout.
"Advanced warning boards went up on site, two weeks before the closure, with roadworks.org showing the one way system being created.
"Our VMS are displaying an appropriate message and will continue to do so during the works.
"The diversion will be fully signed for HGV and non-local traffic."
