The head of millions of Muslims has condemned extremism after the London terror attacks.

More than 1,000 Ahmadi Muslims travelled from 30 countries to the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden last week to listen to the words of the head and caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

Government ministers, ambassadors of state and members of both Houses of Parliament were also in attendance.

During his speech, Mr Ahmad called the attack a “barbaric atrocity”, after a number of people were mowed down and four were killed by Khalid Massood in Westminster on Wednesday, March 22.

He then got out the car and stabbed police officer Keith Palmer.

Mr Ahmad said: “All forms of terrorism and extremism are completely against the true teachings of Islam.

“The Holy Quran has said that to kill even one innocent person is akin to killing all of mankind.

“Thus under no circumstances can murder ever be justified and those who seek to justify their hateful acts in the name of Islam are serving only to defame it in the worst possible way.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is based in Morden, but also has offices in Golders Green and Potters Bar.
