A local MP has been working to engage with people of all ages to find them jobs and apprenticeships at his annual careers fair.

Mike Freer, MP for Finchley and Golders Green, hosted his fifth Apprenticeships & Jobs Fair at the Golders Green Parish Church last Friday (Mar 10).

The event was first organised by Mr Freer in 2013 as a community-wide initiative to give people of all ages direct access to employers and apprenticeship professionals.

Bank also ran a life skills workshop for visitors interested in improving their employability.

Students from Whitefield School, Bishop Douglass, King Alfred and Woodhouse College took advantage of the free sessions which took place several times throughout the day.

Mr Freer said: “I think this year’s event, more so than ever before, proved a great opportunity for visitors to speak directly with employers from a wide-range of professional backgrounds.

“The feedback I have been receiving has also shown the exhibitors themselves also find it very helpful to network with one another.

“Something we did try to actively encourage this year was for students from our local schools to attend.

“From the discussions I had with exhibitors and visitors, it was evident they valued the one-to-one advice many of them received about their future career prospects, whether they were school leavers looking for a career start or visitors with a professional background looking for a career change.”
