Jackie, who recently left the Youth Council, said being part of it has helped him get into all of his five university choices.

He said: “I am very happy to have been part of the Youth Council. It was a lovely five years.

“I am very interested to see how it plays out. I just want to say thank you to everyone for their support.

“I wish the next generation the best of luck. I am always happy to give help and advice to anyone.”

Elstree and Borehamwood Mayor Cllr Clive Butchins said: "We presented Jackie with a certificate to mark his years of service at the Youth Council and his year as chairman.

"He has reached the age where he moves on to bigger and better things. He made a very valuable contribution to the Youth Council."
