Man arrested for murder of Lea Adri-Soejoko, found dead in Colindale allotment

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly woman whose body was found in an allotment lock-up.

Lea Adri-Soejoko, 80, was found dead at Colindale allotments in Sheaveshill Avenue around 2.05am on Tuesday (Feb 28) after being reported missing less than an hour before.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder on Friday (Mar 3) after a murder investigation was launched by the Met police on Thursday (Mar 2).

Hundreds of children in colourful costumes chose to commemorate World Book Day by joining a protest against the rapid reduction of their library services.

A woman with a “prolific history” of anti-social behaviour has been banned from her local area and ordered not to associate with certain people.

Janelle James, of Great Strand, Colindale, was the first person in Colindale to be hit with a drug closure order following months of anti-social behaviour in November 2015.

Last July, her behaviour was found to have worsened and she was issued a criminal behaviour order (CBO) which banned her from the Grahame Park Estate and from associating with 20 named people.

Landlady who put five tenants under 'serious' safety risk in Finchley HMO fined £18,000 by Barnet Council

A landlady who ran an unlicenced house with multiple tenants afflicted by a wide range of safety risks has been fined more than £18,000.

Sharon Jacobs pleaded guilty to failing to licence and manage a house in multiple occupation (HMO) in Litchfield Way, Finchley, in court on Tuesday (February 28).

She was ordered to pay a fine of £15,000, plus costs of £3456.52 and a victim surcharge of £170.

A total of £12,000 has been collected from litterbugs in Barnet Council’s latest push against environmental abuse.

The Keep Barnet Clean campaign was launched in July 2016 to keep the borough free of littering, flytipping and other environmental crimes like public urination, spitting and dog fouling.

Barnet Council’s latest enforcement action to tackle environmental crime has seen 28 people ordered to pay £430 each for failing to pay a fixed penalty notice (FPN) for littering.

A woman in her 90s has died after being hit by a car in East Finchley.

Lyttelton Road, East Finchley, was the site of a collision between a car and a pedestrian around 10.54am last  Saturday (February 25).

The pedestrian, a woman in her 90s, was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital and pronounced dead just before 1pm.

Brent Cross shopping centre hit by third-highest number of reported shoplifting incidents in 2016

Barnet’s shoplifting ‘hotspot’ was the target of one of the highest numbers of offences in the country in 2016.

Data from police records was analysed by retail site LoveMyVouchers to identify areas of the UK hit most frequently by shoplifting.

Brent Cross shopping centre was marked as having the third-highest number of incidents reported last year, with the Met police showing 316 individual instances of shoplifting on the premises.
