As part of its on-going programme of station enhancements, Govia Thameslink Railway has joined forces with Hertfordshire’s Libraries and Heritage Service to offer a new free service for rail commuters.

Two bookshelves have now been placed in the waiting room on Platform 1. This service has been started with a selection of books donated by our local library at 96 Shenley Road.

Library Manager Jocelyne Walker says: “We’re delighted to be part of this book swap and hope it will encourage people to read more, share books and maybe chat with other commuters about what they have chosen.

"We will regularly add library information to the bookshelves so that readers can find out about our opening hours, the Hertfordshire Library App, books, magazines, events, free PC use and free WiFi that we offer.

"We would like to see commuters pop in after work and on Saturdays too”

The system is simplicity itself and invites commuters to borrow any book they want. They can return it when they’ve finished, and even better, donate their own books to the cause.

On behalf of GTR, Mo Uddin adds: “All our commuters are welcome to use the book swapping service. Its free for all and it will be great to hear customers views. If you have any comments please speak to one of station team."
