As many of you will be aware, because I sit on the Planning Committee, I have deliberately kept myself away from any conversations regarding the proposed development of Newberries Car Park.

I had wanted us to maintain a Radlett vote when this matter ultimately came to the Planning Committee. I could not, therefore, prejudice myself by being seen to have a ‘predetermined view’ which would have stopped me from participating in the vote.

However, after a significant number of requests from residents asking me to represent them and their views in advance of the planning meeting, I have now decided to step down from the committee for this particular matter.

Please be assured that Cllr Charles Goldstein will sub for me at that Committee meeting, so Radlett will still get its vote.

I can now freely represent the views of residents and also act as Community Advocate. Many of you have previously contacted me about this matter, and many others may now also wish to express their views, so please feel free to contact me at cllr.caroline.clapper@hertsmere.gov.uk (using the Subject title: “Newberries”) I am pleased to now be able to ensure that the views of Radlett residents will be suitably represented at the Planning Committee and look forward to hearing from you.

Cllr Caroline Clapper (Conservative), Aldenham West ward, Hertsmere Borough Council
