An application to build on a former gasworks site has been approved unanimously.

Hertsmere's planning committee approved the application to build one four and five storey building and a one four, five and six storey residential blocks in Station Road, Borehamwood.

Developers consulted more than 200 neighbours and only four objected. These objections were addressed.

Cllr Turner said: "I think that of the significant number of residents being consulted only 4 objected and these have all been addressed."

The number of affordable homes was an issue for some of the members of the planning committee.

Cllr Kelly said: "Although I am disappointed with the level of affordable housing I will be supporting this application.

"The application will remove the unsightly look of the gasworks site. It looks like a good development and high quality."

The application to develop the site was unanimously approved by Hertsmere Borough Council's planning committee.
