Technology enthusiasts will enjoy an interactive Asian Fusion dining experience at Inamo, which has restaurants in Camden, Covent Garden and Soho.

Whilst pioneering various flavours and dishes of Japan, China, Korea and Thailand, the restaurant has also launched an ordering system that gives diners complete control.

Using a tablet screen which illustrates a food and drinks menu, customers can choose a selection of sushi, tapas, soup and curry dishes, which are not typically served in a traditional “starter and main course” style.

I was invited to taste three dishes from the menu at the latest branch in Camden, which is located directly opposite Mornington Crescent Underground Station and is next to Camden High Street.

Even before ordering, I was impressed by the setup of the restaurant, particularly as our table had a touchscreen option that allowed us to change the colour of our table, as well as watch the chefs make our meal on the “Chef Cam” and even play games such as pong and memory.

There is still attentive service from waiters and waitresses, who are on hand to supply drinks and bring over the food.

My first dish was the claypot green chicken curry and rice (£15.95), which was a take on the classic Thai green curry with grilled chicken and fresh vegetables in a creamy sauce, garnished with basil and mint and served with steamed rice, which was very filling I also tried the beef tataki (£8.25), comprised of a classic Japanese dish and included rare British rib-eye which was steeped in a tangy ginger and ponzu sauce.

To wash down the flavoursome food, I opted for the Inamo Spark cocktail (£8.95), which had a sweet and nutty amaretto taste that was balanced with lime juice and topped with prosecco.

My guest was also feeling adventurous and chose baby crispy seafood (£8.25) for her starter, made up of Baby tiger prawns and squids in Japanese tempura served with a tangy Thai mango relish.

She also had crispy soft shell crab rolled with creamy avocado to form a California Roll (£10.95), with a side of edamame beans (from the vegetarian option, £4.95), which were steamed and sprinkled with Maldon sea salt, with a soy mirin dipping sauce on the side. This was accompanied by a Hana Daiquiri cocktail and was full of Havana Club rum, fresh lime juice, rosemary, and maraschino that was then shaken and served with a raspberry and rosemary flower.

Although the food wasn’t outstanding, the high-tech ambiance and service of the restaurant turned the evening into a memorable and fun experience.
