It isn’t easy to open a new restaurant in London, especially on a Broadway full of eateries offering cuisines from all over the world.

But Bodean’s, London’s original BBQ Smokehouse, is a meat lover’s dream, and it’s easy to see why.

It wasn’t the biggest restaurant in size, but for a Saturday night, the tables were full, and families were in and out all evening.

The portions are big, the meat delicious and the fries are just as good.

A friends and I began our three course meal by sharing Carolina prawns (£7.25) and Nacho chips (£1.95) to start.

A tasty but light way to line our stomachs for the main course.

With plenty of drinks to choose from, we picked an Alabama Slammer cocktail (£6.25) from the classic cocktail menu and a Premium Raspberry Mojito (£7.75) from the Speciality cocktail range.

I would recommend both cocktails, but there’s so much to choose from, and I regret not trying the Jeffries crema soda (£2.85) which looked delicious.

Deciding what to pick for main course was tricky.

I had looked forward to this meal all day and purposely eaten very little, having heard great things about their menu.

We scoured the menu to make sure we picked the right dish, as it all looked great and from hot dogs to hot deli sandwiches, there was so much on offer.

We finally chose to try the ¼ chicken with fried and coleslaw £7.95 and the ½ chicken, pulled pork and smoked sausage combo with fries and coleslaw (£17.95).

Boy, did we choose well.

The meals were very filling, more than big enough, so we were more than happy to ask for a takeaway box, and look forward to another meat feast the next day.

And you can’t visit Bodean’s without trying one of their desserts.

We decided to share a chocolate fudge brownie (£5.95) and pecan pie (£5.25), and both were exquisite.

As full as we were from our starter and main meals, we both have a very sweet tooth and managed to finish each desert too.

We left feeling more than full and happy with our choices, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to try a new style of BBQ food on a Saturday night.
