Members of the community banded together to help the homeless and others living in need over the winter.
Volunteers from two United Synagogues, in Barnet and Edgware, took part in cookery sessions, making a lavish menu of vegetarian treats.
On top of the feasts produced, residents from the area donated food, as well as socks and underwear, to the Homeless Action in Barnet day centre.
Co-ordinator at the Barnet session Miriam Marson said: “It was with great team spirit members of Barnet Shul community joined forces on the bank holiday to cook meals for those in need.
“Meals will be distributed to the elderly, bereaved or anyone else unable to cook and we all look forward to cooking together again soon.”
The menus included vegetarian shepherd’s pie, vegetable soup, cabbage, vegetable lasagne and apple crumble.
Edgware United Synagogue also held an informal discussion led by Tikun, who helped organise the event, on the importance of kindness and leaving a better world for the next generation.
