An application to redevelop a gasworks site is due to be discussed at the next planning meeting next week.

Developers are hoping to build one four and five storey building and a one four, five and six storey residential blocks in Station Road, Borehamwood.

There will be 78 bed flats in total with associated car parking, cycle storage, landscaping, amenity space, refuse storage and access.

According to the planning application, the head of planning at Hertsmere Borough Council is suggesting the application be granted planning permission.

The application site comprises an irregular shaped plot of recently cleared land which previously contained the Gas Holders and their ancillary buildings.

Currently none of the 247 neighbours who were notified are in support of the application however four neighbours have expressed their concerns.

The four objections suggest the six storey building and balconies would have a negative impact on the neighbours in Shelley Close; and the development would result in further traffic congestion.

They are also concerned that anti-social behaviour and rubbish could increase and the heights of the buildings should be restricted to the heights of the previous gasholders.

The application will be brought to Hertsmere Borough Council's planning committee on Thursday January 12.
