It’s hard to keep up with what rail services are running this month, as there seems to be another strike announced every other.

People are warned to prepare for their journeys, by taking alternative routes or setting of in plenty of time to guarantee they make it in time.

There will be “severe delays” on the Southern services and the Gatwick Express from tomorrow on wards (Dec 6).

Southern employees who are part of the RMT union will strike for three days from tomorrow, to protest the role of conductors.

Commuters could face problems as Southern Rail and London underground staff are due to strike at the same time.

Tube drivers on the Circle, Piccadilly and Hammersmith & City lines are staging a 24-hour walkout starting from 9.30pm tomorrow (Dec 6), but disruption is expected from as early as 7pm.

The Piccadilly line will also stop running completely and there will be a ‘significantly reduced’ service on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines.

Here is when the strikes will take place this month:

Dec 6 – 8 - the RMT conductor’s strike

Dec 13-14 – the ASLEF and RMT drivers’ strike begins

Dec 16 – ASLEF and RMT strikes will take place

Dec 19 – 20 – RMT Conductors’ strike

Dec 31 – Jan 2 – RMT Conductors’ strike

Jan 9 – Jan 14 - ASLEF & RMT drivers’ strike

Southern Railway director Alex Foulds said: ‘If passengers can make alternative travel arrangements they should, and if they don’t have to travel they shouldn’t. If the drivers’ strikes go ahead, there will be no services on Southern and customers should not attempt to travel.’

If strikes go ahead, no Southern services will run tomorrow, with only Thameslink services running to Three Bridges and Brighton and a limited service on Gatwick Express.

People travelling to or from Heathrow airport on Wednesday December 7 are advised to plan alternative routes.
