A restaurant has won Best Chef of the Year 2016.

Ashak Ahmed Choudhury, the chef at Saffron, the Bangladeshi restaurant in Leeming Road, Borehamwood, was given the award on November 27 at the Park Plaza Hotel, in Westminster by celebrity chef Rachel Allen and radio and TV host Raj Ghai.

There were 11 winners of the restaurant of the year and 9 winners of the chef category with Saffron being one of them.

The annual BCA Honor awards ceremony celebrating approximately 12,000 British-Bangladeshi restaurants across the UK.

BCA president, Pasha Khandaker said, “It’s incredibly vital that we recognize and reward all the hard work and dedication that British Curry houses undertake all over the UK and provide the phenomenal growth and contribution to the British Curry Industry”.

Two BCA Honor Awards were also presented to Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning for his support and contribution to the British Curry Industry and Goyas Miah for a lifetime contribution to this industry and the British Bangladeshi Community.
