A new medical director has been appointed at an NHS Trust.

John Omany will join the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust having previously worked as a medical director in a number of organisation including NHS England.

Mr Omany is a consultant in palliative medicine with a strong focus on patient care and believe that community services working collaboratively and in partnership with other stakeholders offers the best chance of addressing some of the challenges in healthcare delivery today.

He said: "I am delighted to start this new role and embrace the challenges of delivering community based services across Hertfordshire.

"I pride myself on being a caring, passionate, enthusiastic clinician and I am constantly striving to improve the quality of care for patients and their families. I look forward to contributing to the Trust's strategy."

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) provides services across the county and in West Essex, in people's homes, community settings and in its community hospitals.

David Law, Chief Executive at HCT, said: "John will provide a real drive around the development of our services, continuing to improve our working relationships with general practice and leadership of our medical staff.

"I am greatly looking forward to working with him and having him as a member of the executive team and board."
