Aspiring singing stars as young as nine have had the chance to strut their stuff on a West End stage in their first taste of the limelight.

On Sunday November 13, children from Barnet’s Razzamataz theatre school put on a special performance of the classic musical Our House at Her Majesty’s Theatre in St James’, Westminster.

The 15 girls and three boys sang, acted and danced to songs by popular ska band Madness in a special gala to showcase the talents they have been developing in classes.

Razzamataz Barnet joined 11 other UK theatre schools for the gala on the stage usually home to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s world famous Phantom of the Opera musical.

Principal of Razzamataz Barnet Michael French said: “We are so proud of each and every one of our performers at Her Majesty’s Theatre – the energy on stage was incredible and the audience could not help but get swept along with the joy of the children on stage.

“The youngest performer in the cast was just nine but they all blew us away with how they took on their individual roles and really got into their characters.

“The children seemed to be enjoying themselves on stage, which is what it is all about and many of them have told us that this really was a magical experience for them.

“Making dreams come true is a real privilege for us at Razzamataz.”

Razzamataz Barnet classes at the Wren Academy in North Finchley are for children of all backgrounds or abilities, with a focus on keeping fit and active, having fun and making friends.

Classes start at age four and go on to 18 and there are lots of opportunities to perform giving children the opportunity to grow in confidence.
