A man died after being hit by a train last night.

At around 6.50pm, the British Transport Police were called after a person was hit by a train at Elstree and Borehamwood.

Police attended alongside paramedics however a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lines were closed until about 8.10pm when two of the four lanes reopened. By 9.15pm all lines were reopened.

The incident caused massive delays across all services to and from Elstree and Borehamwood.

Thameslink is offering a refund to anyone who was delayed by 30mins or more because of this incident.

This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
