An X Factor star is set to take the lead on a North London festive tradition.

Luena Martinez, 17, who made it through to the six chair challenge on this year’s ITV signing competition, has been a lifelong supporter of Noah’s Ark children’s hospice.

On Saturday November 26 she will be the headline act at their Precious Moments concert which brings together school and community choirs to raise money for the charity’s Christmas appeal.

The concert, taking place with different line-ups at 2pm and 7.30pm in St James’ Church, Muswell Hill, will culminate with a communal singing of All You Need Is Love by the Beatles.

One of the school taking part is Goodwyn School, Mill Hill, where pupils are already practicing for the big moments in the spotlight.

Chloe Jaffy, aged nine, said: “I love singing and I think it is important to raise money for poorly children to help them feel better.

“We practice twice a week; our rehearsals begin at 8:10am in the morning but we really enjoy it.”

Joining the school choirs will be a range of amateur and professional singing groups, musicians and soloists performing a mix of traditional Christmas songs, West End favourites and pop classics.

The Enfield Harmony singers will open the matinee performance with the song Every Praise.

Choir director Jenny La Touche said: “We are very excited to be a part of this event [and] to be bringing some joy with such a positive organisation.

“Rehearsals are going very well, we’re looking forward to singing the gospel song My Help – an extremely positive song giving hope even when we might feel there isn’t any.”

Aged nine, TV star Luena entered the We’ve Got Talent competition which raised £2,000 for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, and they have been following her career ever since.

Noah’s Ark, which has just entered a partnership with Tottenham Hotspur FC, provides ‘hospice at home’ care for children in North London and Hertsmere.
