A man who stabbed a family dog 11 times has been sectioned.

Barnet MPS officers were called to Beaconsfield in Friern Barnet to reports a 40-year-old man had attacked a Staffordshire bull terrier.

First aid was administered before the dog was taken to Hendon’s Medivet in Watford Way.

In a report from the police, it said: “The male at the address was arrested for criminal damage.

“He was then sectioned under the mental health act by a Home Office forensic medical examiner and recalled to hospital.

Medivet confirmed on the following day that the dog had suffered 11 stab wounds, but fortunately none were serious.
