Famous faces of Borehamwood and Elstree

Probably the most recognisable on this list X Factor creator and judge Simon Cowell was brought up in Elstree.

2) Jaye Davidson

Actor Jaye Davidson, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film The Crying Game, grew up in Borehamwood and went to Hillside Comprehensive School, now Yavneh College

3) Den Dover

The former Conservative MEP Den Dover lived in Borehamwood. In 2008 he was involved in a scandal and was told to pay £500k after it was a revealed he had conflict of interest in Mr Dover’s decision to make payments to family members for office work

4) Marilyn

Pop star Peter Robinson, better known as Marilyn, went to St Theresa's Catholic School. He is most well known for his 1983 hit "Calling Your Name" and his highly androgynous appearance.

5) Shona Bernadette McGarty

This EastEnders actress, who plays Whitney Dean, was born in Borehamwood. Lucky for her the set of EastEnders is just around the corner from her family home

6) Tim Sherwood

The English professional football manager and former midfielder Tim Sherwood was born in Borehamwood. He used to manage Aston Villa until his sack in October 2015

7) Gino D'Acampo

The Italian celebrity chef has claimed Elstree as his new home. The chef is best known for creating mouth-watering food as well as winning I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here series nine.
