A West Finchley man found guilty of stabbing another man to death in Woodside Park has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Bright Osei, of Ballards Lane, was arrested after stabbing Ali Nasrollahi around 2.43pm on March 29 in Woodside Grange Road.

Mr Nasrollahi was taken to Royal London hospital by air ambulance and died of his wounds at 4.53pm the same day with post-mortem identifying cause as a single stab wound to the chest.

On Wednesday (October 5), Osei, 22, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by virtue of loss of control, in relation to the incident, at the Old Bailey and was found guilty by the court.

He was given his 10-year sentence at the same court yesterday.

Police established Mr Ali had an argument with Osei outside West Finchley tube station on March 28 regarding a small debt owed to one of his friends.

The men met the next day where witnesses said Mr Ali had been pushed against a tree and stabbed.

A search of the route taken by Osei following the murder led to the discovery of a knife which, after forensic examination, was found to have traces of Ali's DNA on it.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Ali Nasrollahi was killed following an argument over a small debt.

“It is hard to believe that someone can place so little value on another person's life.

“It is clear Osei intended to cause serious physical harm to Ali as he had a weapon with him which was used to cause the fatal injuries.

“The actions of the defendant on that day resulted in the unnecessary death of another young man and he now faces a significant prison sentence.

“We will continue to work with colleagues across the Met to tackle knife crime head on – this case should act as a warning to those individuals who choose violence that they will be arrested and convicted.”
