A mother accused of covering up the death of a baby boy more than 11 years ago and keeping his remains in her garden appeared has in court.

Victoria Gayle, 31, appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday accused of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body and of perverting the course of justice by concealing the death of a child.

The boy’s remains were found in her home in West Hendon in June. He had not been seen since 2004.

Ms Gayle was remanded to appear at the same court on 26 October. A trial is expected to commence in April 2017.

A 50-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man who both arrested on suspicion of preventing a lawful and decent burial have been re-bailed pending further enquires to a date in late October.

A 38-year old man who was arrested on Friday, 16 September, on suspicion of preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course justice has been bailed to a date in mid-November.
