A THEATRE school student is excited to appear in a new CBBC adaption of The Worst Witch.

Tamara Smart, 10, of Barnet, will play the role of Enid Nightshade, the best friend of hapless main character Mildred Hubble.

The Worst Witch is based on the books by Jill Murphy, and follows a group of young witches in a magical school.

Tamara was part of the Razzamataz Barnet theatre school, and she was selected to join casting agent Top Talent, and won the part after fourth month audition process.

Filming has begun in Germany, and the show will air in early 2017.

Tamara said: “The audition process was very long, over four months in total. It was nerve racking but at the same time very exciting.

“When I found out I had got the part I felt really excited because I know it is going to be an amazing experience.

"Being a student at Razzamataz has helped to build up my confidence and self-esteem and the lessons are really good fun.”

Razzamataz Barnet is a performing arts school for children aged between 2-18-years-old.

Principal of Razzamataz Barnet, Michael French said they were “incredibly proud” of her.

He said: “We will miss her energy and enthusiasm every week in class while filming is in progress but we can’t wait to see the finished result.”
