THE new homes built on the former Hendon football club site have now been reserved.

The development of 135 houses, titled Claremont Village, is currently being built on land near Claremont Road in Cricklewood.

People started moving into their new homes in May and the developer, Fairview, began construction work in August last year.

Hendon’s former football club was ripped apart in 2012, leaving football fans "heartbroken", however, the developer said they were "proud to bring a disused site back into beneficial use."

The 106 released for sale have been reserved including a further 29 properties which are being made available as affordable housing through a housing association.

Fairview recently received planning permission to redevelop a collection of derelict buildings next to the Virgin Active gym near Cricklewood Lane.

The company plans to demolish the buildings between 112 and 132 Cricklewood Lane to and build 122 new apartments.

Jim Holliday, Sales and Marketing Director for Fairview, said: “We are always proud to bring a disused site back into beneficial use, and at Claremont Village we have turned a neglected piece of land into a new community.

“Construction will continue in the months ahead, and we expect to finish work on the final homes in January 2017.

“We look forward to finishing work at Claremont Village, ready to start fresh on regenerating another area of Cricklewood.

“Our development off Cricklewood Lane will be named The Broadway, and our ambition is to achieve the same level of transformation of this site as we have with the former Hendon FC land.”
