Watford are on the verge of completing the signing of Juventus midfielder Roberto Pereyra.

The Hornets have targeted the Argentine playmaker throughout this summer and are believed to have agreed a £13m deal with the Serie A champions.

Pereyra is expected in England on Thursday and is keen on joining the Premier League side according to sources close to the player.

Having sold Almen Abdi this summer, the Hornets are short on creativity and the signing of Pereyra would offer an extra attacking dimension to the side.

The 25-year-old's best position is just behind the strikers although he can also play on the wing.

Pereyra, who prefers to cut inside and play centrally, is a creative attacker with a goal threat.

Walter Mazzarri has targeted the signing of Pereyra to play behind Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.

The attacker was restricted to 16 appearances last season for Juventus and is unlikely to feature regularly if he remains in Italy.

Pereyra is familiar to the Pozzos after spending four years at Udinese prior to joining Juve.

Watford head coach Mazzarri wants to bring in two or three new signings before the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.

The arrival of Pereyra will be a major coup for the Hornets and underlines the ambition of owner Gino Pozzo to turn them into an established Premier League club.
