A heatwave with scorching temperatures could last until August bank holiday weekend, according to forecasters.
Temperatures are poised to climb as high as 26C as another heatwave hits south west Hertfordshire at the end of this week.
This is down to a blast of hot air from the south which will nudge the mercury high above the average for August - possibly topping the record for the year so far.
The Met Office expects temperatures in the high twenties on Monday and Tuesday.
However, heavy thunderstorms could bring an end to the hot spell on Wednesday.
Is it going to turn hotter? There is the potential for highs of 30-32 °C next week https://t.co/4u82C4pEf9 pic.twitter.com/PIKZueLGEK
