The Safer Neighbourhood Team in Borehamwood and Elstree has been joined by five new faces including a sergeant, a police officer and three PCSOs.

Sergeant Alistair Jones, who has worked in the police for 14 years, will head the team having previously worked as the Safer Neighbourhood team sergeant for Potters Bar and Shenley.

Sgt Jones started his career in 2001 as a police constable and was promoted to detective sergeant in 2006.

He said: “I have been using my experience to encourage my team to deal proactively with crime and anti-social behaviour in Borehamwood and Elstree, as well as offering a reassuring policing presence.

“My officer have been regularly meeting and listening to local residents, executing warrants and being highly visible on foot and on bikes, spending the majority of their time on the street.

“The current neighbourhood priorities are speeding along Well End Road during morning and evening rush hour and drug offences in Borehamwood, including Allerton Road throughout the day.”

Sgt Jones will be joined by Police Constable Tom Campbell and PCSOs Andrea Gibson, John Hainsworth and Andrew Christian.

PC Campbell previously worked on the Operation Scorpion team in Borehamwood and in April helped arrest a man dealing drugs in Shenley Road.

The 31-year-old said: “I know Borehamwood and Elstree very well and I’m enjoying being public facing and accountable to the public and being in a position to help people.

“As part of Operation Scorpion, we were proactively targeting drug dealers and people involved in acquisitive crime including robberies and burglaries.

“We had to work up intelligence and track down criminals to try and break the cycle of offending and by stopping the drug dealers, we also cut the number of burglaries and robberies.”
