The EU referendum is fast approaching and many figures across Hertsmere have given their views on which way they will vote.

The Times Series asked the chairman of Hertsmere UKIP David Hoy to give his opinions on the EU referendum.

Voters will take to the poll on June 23 to cast their vote.

Mr Hoy said: “Having read and watched many negative things in the media over the last few months and hearing scare stories of global proportions it reminds me of two things.

“The Millennium. They said when the year 2000 comes all the computers will crash, aeroplanes will drop out of the sky and the banking system will collapse.

“Bird flu. This was going to wipe out hundreds and thousands of us, there was not going to be enough vaccine for all of us and put panic into so many with young and old in their families.

“Well what I am trying to say is scare stories, it never turns out like the experts predict and this referendum is no different.

“I have heard stories that we will have to pay more for our goods imported from the EU.

“Their cars, washing machines, cheese, wine. Well there is a global market out there.

“Business is simply supply and demand. Demand drops prices come down.

“Korea and Japan make some of the finest cars and now with goods in the world we do not have to buy from the EU.

“Now you would have to be walking around in a bubble not to notice our roads are always full, our hospitals are full, schools are full and jails are full.

“Housing that is another joke. Like it or not we have an incredible amount of people everywhere making their demands on all of these services.

“I went to a car park recently and the barrier would not rise because it was full but we cannot do this with our hospitals, schools etc.

“Now I love meeting people and embrace some of their cultures from all over the world but the UK cannot be responsible for everyone and be expected to pay for them all.

“I think the governments over the last 30 years have been self-serving looking after their banker and business friends and they are all on payback now saying their piece for a few silver coins.

“I love this great country and I am sick of the way ordinary people are manipulated being so trusting we believe what our governments tell us.

“Not any more we want control of our great country, do not listen to scare stories.

“We will survive and become great again and embrace people from foreign lands when they come to visit or live in our country when they use a fairer system.”
