A number of goslings and rabbits visited Borehamwood to prepare for the upcoming festival this summer.

The Aldenham Country Park team set up their stall in Shenley Road, in Borehamwood, on Sunday May 8 at the pre-festival event in preparation for the 60th annual civic festival.

Visitors were asked if they knew their eggs and had to guess which bird produced each egg in the display.

Michelle Artiss, of the park, said: “It was really good. We did not stop all day. People just wanted to meet the goslings.

“A lot of people say that they did not know Aldenham Country Park was not there.

“The hardest egg to guess was the turkey egg which most visitors had never seen before.

“All eggs except the ostrich egg were produced by the park as there are a variety of birds on the farm.

“The goslings took their first public engagement in their stride and were relaxed whilst meeting the visitors.”

Borehamwood Town Mayor Richard Butler and the park’s policeman also came by.

Younger visitors were given activity sheets that allowed one free farm entry and letter templates that they could post to Winne the Pooh in his letterbox in 100 Aker Wood at the park.

Aldenham Country Park was one of a number of organisations taking part in the pre-festival event.
