A community partnership with Arsenal Football Club has seen more young people in Hertsmere get the chance to train this Easter.

Two events were held at the Arsenal Training Ground in Shenley on April 4 and had more than 50 young people aged between five to 13 take part in the soccer school.

In the evening there was a club training session for Garston Ladies that saw more than 30 girls receive coaching from Arsenal in the Community and Arsenal Ladies.

Hertsmere Borough Cllr Brenda Batten said: “The sessions at the Arsenal Training Ground are always well-attended and these are great opportunities for young people to take part in a positive activity.

“We would like to thank Arsenal for helping to provide these opportunities.

“Through taking part in the huge range of activities and programmes, youngsters not only learn how to be healthy and active but also make new friends.

“I’m especially pleased with all the work we have been able to achieve encouraging female participation in sport.

“Too often girls would be on the side lines, now they are at the heart of the game and looking to the future I can only see that growing.”
