A home that provides accommodation and personal care for up to seven people with mental health needs has been rated told it must require improvement in the latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Moti Willow, in Watling Street, Radlett, was inspected by the CQC on March 16 this year and the inspectors found the home to be requiring improvements.

According to the report, the service was not consistently safe and there were no risk assessments developed if an incident happened.

The inspectors also found the service was not consistently responsive. It reported the agency staff had limited knowledge about triggers for people to suggest their mental health was not good.

As well the service was not always led the report found. People’s care records lacked details of their support needs as well as likes and dislikes.

Mostak Ahmed, managing director of Maison Moti, the company who run Moti Willow, said: “Moti Willow used to be known as Brookdene House and we took over the premise in February last year.

“Since then we have been busy trying to get our home to comply with our own standards.

“We have a number of other homes and there are all CQC registered and rated as good.

“We accept the findings by the CQC and we have already made the changes required.

“We are now awaiting a further visit from the CQC.”

Out of the five areas inspected by the CQC, the home did receive two good ratings for an effective and caring service.

The inspectors reported people were encouraged to be involved in cooking their own food and the menu contained a vegetarian option.

The CQC inspectors also reported the overall service was caring and people were involved in regular reviews about their support needs.
