As part of the ongoing Defibrillators Save Lives campaign a new plaque was unveiled.

On Monday February 8, the Elstree and Borehamwood Town Mayor Richard Butler and Mayoress Rebecca Challice unveiled the latest defibrillator location at Morrisons in Borehamwood.

This equipment was provided by the British Heart Foundation after town Cllr Clive Butchins applied for three from the organisation.

On the same day, another plaque was unveiled at the Hertswood Sports Centre by former town mayors Cllr Butchins and Cllr Pat Strack.

Barry Ellis, of Hertsmere Leisure, accepted the defibrillator on behalf of the centre which was donated by AAH Pharmaceuticals.

The defibrillator is on loan to the centre until it is demolished as part of the rebuild at Hertswood Academy.

Another six plaques will be unveiled across the town throughout February and all have been donated or bought from fundraising events or from grants.

The various locations will include Tesco, Allum Hall, Aberford Hall, The Venue and Fairway Hall.

Cllr Strack said: “Alongside the installation, free training is taking place for staff and residents.

“Verity MacLachlan, the Heartstart Central Herts coordinator, has trained 80 people in February so far.”
