A man from Borehamwood has been award an award from Halifax for his voluntary support of a youth football club in Borehamwood.

Colin Hudson, from Borehamwood, is one of 66 winners from across the UK who has been awarded the Halifax Giving Extra Awards due to his contribution to Borehamwood Youth Football Club for the past 25 years.

Nominated by his wife Anita, Mr Hudson started playing for the club 25 years ago and since then he has worked to keep the club running.

Mr Hudson said: “I was over the moon to win the Halifax Giving Extra Award.

“I do put a lot of time and effort into the club, but so do lots of other people – so I’d like to thank everyone who has helped out.”

The club currently has 18 teams with 220 boys and girls playing each week.

Russell Galley, director of Halifax Community Bank, said: “Halifax is committed to bringing communities closer together.

“We believe we should give extra back to people like Colin who are pivotal to driving positive and lasting change.

“We’re proud that Colin is one of our Halifax Giving Extra Award winners.”
