A man is trying to start a village carnival after his success putting on a charity children’s fair last year.

Paul Howard, from Radlett, had the idea for a Radlett carnival last year, but there was too little time to set up a committee.

Instead he decided to put on a children’s fair in the grounds of the Radlett Village Institute and The Radlett Men’s Club.

The day raised £520, which Mr Howard wanted to give to a charity in the area.

When he was contacted by producer Emma Harrington of Herts Inclusive Theatre, who invited him to one of its workshops where he met her and the team, he knew that this was the organisation to donate the money to.

Mr Howard said: “I was delighted. The kids all turned up so excited, their faces were a picture as to how happy they were to be there.

“I soon realised that this was the place for the money raised. My only wish is that I had raised more.

“But we have started what I hope to be a great relationship .”

And although his initial dream of creating the Radlett Carnival did not go ahead, Mr Howard is determined to have the carnival in June 2016.

He also hopes to hold more charity events in Radlett, including a possible comedy night at The Radlett Village Institute in April.

Herts Inclusive Theatre has already agreed to have a stall at the carnival and the students will be putting on a show.

Mr Howard said: “It’s going to be an amazing event, not to be missed.

“Come along, have some fun and show your support for Herts Inclusive Theatre.”
