An academy in Borehamwood has increased its performance since 2012 according to the Department of Education.

Hertswood Academy in Borehamwood was ranked top ten against more than 3700 England state secondary schools.

The academy saw a 25 per cent increase of their pupils achieving five or more A*-C grades since 2012.

Compared to the other schools across the county, Hertswood Academy was the most improved state secondary school with an increase of 25 per cent since 2012.

Peter Gillet, headteacher at Hertswood Academy, said: “We are proud to be in the top ten most improved schools in England and as the most improved state secondary school in Hertfordshire at GCSE between 2012 and 2015.

“We are obviously thrilled with our GCSE and A Level exam results with GCSE now well above national standard and our sixth form students getting offers from Oxbridge.

“Our students, our staff and our parent’s continue show that there is no limit to what we can achieve through our combined efforts and determination.

“I feel very privileged to be a part of the amazing community of Borehamwood.”
