A man from Borehamwood struggling with anxiety died from a heart attack brought on from taking cocaine, an inquest was told.

Patrick Monneron, 33, of Norfolk Gardens, was found dead in his home on July 31, 2015.

His body was discovered by the police after Mr Monneron’s family contacted the police when he didn’t speak to them for more than a week.

Mr Monneron was already dead by the time the police and ambulance had arrrived.

Hertfordshires coroner Geoffrey Sullivan told the court today that Mr Monneron had feelings of anxiety which caused him to use alcohol and drugs more.

Mr Monneron was also taking a mild antidepressant and took cocaine.

The court heard Mr Monneron had two serious suicide attempts in September 2014.

His mother, Mrs Monneron, told the hearing: “He contacted me on July 21, which is my birthday.

“He said he was fine and I said I would be back on Sunday. I didn’t hear anything after that.

“After a week, his manager contacted me and said he had not been at work all week.”

Mr Sullivan said Mr Monneron already had problems with his heart and he died of a heart attack caused by cocaine.

Police discovered the body and said: “We did a number of checks as no one had seen him for more than a week.

“He was not in the local hospital or at the police station. We entered the house and found Mr Monneron lying on the floor of his living room.”

The front door had been covered with a black bin liner but there was no explanation as to why this had been done according to the coroner.

Police called an ambulance but there was no attempt to revive him.

The court heard it was unclear when the cocaine was taken but there was enough to be found in the blood by the toxicologist.

Mr Sullivan concluded that the cause of death was drug related but there was no evidence to say that it was a deliberate death.
