As part of the annual Book Week, a school in Radlett welcomed a well-known children’s author and TV personality.

The British comedian, David Baddiel spent time reading extracts from two of his books to the children in Years 2 to 6 from Hertsmere Jewish Primary School.

He then took part in a book signing where the children met and spoke to him about what it takes to make a great author.

Headteacher, Steven Isaacs, said: “It was a super experience for all children and we appreciate David coming to meet the children.”

One of the pupils, Talia Buckland, 10, asked the question ‘what inspired you to write?’ and she said: “I was surprised that his children inspired him to write.”

Mr Baddiel has written two children’s books The Parent Agency and The Person Controller.

Eden Clifton, 11, enjoyed the humour in the book The Parent Agency and said how Mr Baddiel was funny and liked how he read his books.

Benjamin Gershlick, 10, said: “I enjoyed the experience immensely. It was so interesting to have a real life author reading his books to us.”

Mr Baddiel is known for his work alongside Rob Newman in The Mary Whitehouse Experience and partnership with Frank Skinner.
