A young girl from Borehamwood is taking to the stage in the upcoming Face of the Globe beauty pageant.

Seven-year-old Summer Kershaw, of Stanley Gardens, competed in the same beauty pageant in 2014 and is looking forward to competing on Sunday November 29 in the Mini Miss Cat round.

This pageant will be the first one Summer has done this year and if she wins she will go on a trip to Disney World where they hold the finals of the pageant.

Her mum, Zoe Sherlock, said: “She did the pageant last year and came second and she did really well to get so far in her first pageant.

“She has got friends who also compete in pageants and Summer has been modelling since she was two or three years old so she is used to the spotlight.”

On Wednesday November 25, Summer completed a sponsored hula hoop challenge for charity the Rainbow Child Foundation, where X-Factor star Chico is the patron.

Mrs Sherlock said: “She got to meet Chico last year at the pageant.

“All or most beauty pageants raise money for the same charity and this competition raises money for the Rainbow Child Foundation as it’s the charity that the pageant is associated with.”

The Rainbow Child Foundation is an organisation that helps underprivileged children around the world.

So far, the charity has reached more than 25,000 children in eight years and has provided schools, sanitation and HIV awareness programmes.

Mrs Sherlock added: “She isn’t nervous really because she looks forward to seeing some of the friends she has made whilst doing these pageants.

“She does it for fun but obviously she would like to win as the prize is big and it will be an achievement for her.”

The beauty pageant will be held on Sunday (November 29) at the Holiday Inn in Gatwick.
