The Elstree and Borehamwood Museum is celebrating its second anniversary at 96 Shenley Road.

The Museum has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors since moving from Drayton Road and has staged a number of exhibitions ranging from 100 Years of the Film Industry to the First World War.

Most recently, the Museum celebrated the 30 year anniversary of EastEnders and it has also been involved in supporting the community by holding history walks and talks.

Dave Armitage, Museum manager, said: “Moving to 96 Shenley Road gave us the chance to modernise, and with the permanent installation of two large screens at the rear of the museum, visitors can view scenes from films made in Borehamwood and interviews with prominent people from the film industry.”

Future exhibitions include ‘Smile Please’ which will look at the importance of Borehamwood in the development of photography.

‘From Village to Town: Celebrating a Century of Migration’ is planned for 2017 and encourages people to tell us about how they came to live in the area.

Cllr Brenda Batten, portfolio holder for culture, said: “It’s wonderful to see the museum thriving. Having recently passed 10,000 visitors, this new milestone shows that the hard work carried out by the volunteers at the museum is really paying dividends.”
