Gritting teams and emergency services across the county are preparing for a sudden turn to icy weather.
As the clean-up operation continues from Storm Barney, forecasters have predicted more gales, heavy rain, hail and sleet this weekend.
The icy forecast also predicts freezing temperatures and winds of up to 70mph.
Forecasters have predicted a possibility of sleet in south west Hertfordshire early on Saturday.
On Friday night the mild temperatures will suddenly drop as low as four degrees inland, which, with blustering winds, is expected to feel more like freezing.
