Four young people from Hertsmere have been recognised for their outstanding achievements.

The 2015 Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions Young People’s Awards took place on November 4 at the County Hall in Hertford.

The evening celebrated the successes of young people and highlighted the range of support provided by Youth Connexions.

Award winner Alex, 17, from Borehamwood, said: “I would like to thank everyone that cared and hoped for me, as that encouraged me to care for others and make a difference.”

County Councillor Maxine Crawley and the deputy director for children’s services Andrew Simmons also attended the evening.

Winner, Steven, 13, from Potters Bar, said: “Thank you to Cath [personal advisor] for her constant and continued support and believing I can succeed.”

Last year Youth Connexions worked with almost 17,000 young people around the county delivering more than 9,000 youth work sessions.

They also supported 637 young people into training or work through the Youth Contract and supported 7,200 young people to take part in work experience through their school.

Cllr Crawley said: “It was an honour to be asked to present the Young People’s Awards 2015.

“I would like to congratulate all of the youngsters, their parents and carers as well as the inspirational staff and managers of Youth Connexions.”
