New figures have shown the number of people in Hertsmere claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance has fallen.
MP for Hertsmere Oliver Dowden visited Ugo Foods, in Borehamwood, to congratulate them on their latest investment in a new plant to enable them to supply Pizza Express.
The unemployment rate has fallen by 11 per cent since October 2014 meaning there has been a drop of 50 per cent since October 2010.
Mr Dowden said: “With full-time employees making up three quarters of the increase in employment over the past year and wages rising 3 per cent, it is clear that our plan for a high-employment and high-wage economy is working.
“I saw evidence of this job creation only last week in Borehamwood whilst paying a visit to Ugo Foods.”
Ugo Foods produce all of Waitrose’s own brand pasta as well as its own Ugo range.
“I was glad to be able to take the opportunity to congratulate them on their latest investment in a new plant that will enable them to supply Pizza Express,” Mr Dowden said.
“Ugo Foods is an example of the great industry we have here in Hertsmere. Their latest investment will create more jobs for local residents.
“But we cannot rest. We must guarantee our economy creates new jobs by ensuring we have a government that lives within its means and our economic recovery is sustained.”
