A woman from Edgware has decided to cut her hair for charity.

Lashika Mendis, from Hale Lane in Edgware, is cutting her hair very short for The Little Princess Trust.

The Trust set up in 2006 provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Mrs Mendis, who works at ActivInstinct in Borehamwood, said: “I have given blood every four months but I realised I have an allergy problem and therefore they advised me not to give blood anymore.

“I wanted to donate something that I have that someone else doesn’t and I realised I could give my hair to The Little Princess Trust.

“I love children and my hair will be given to those without hair. I have had very long hair for a lot of my life and it’s a good cause.”

As well as cutting her hair, Mrs Mendis also has a fundraising page but does not have a specific target as she is more focused on her hair.

The Little Princess Trust also assist children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.

The Trust is also able to supply children that do not have a cancer diagnosis with a single wig.

The event will take place on November 19 in a salon in Edgware Shopping Centre.
