MEMBERS of the public can discuss hate crimes with police officers at an event.

In support of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, which runs until Saturday, October 17, police officers from Harrow will be available to discuss any issues at an event.

National Hate Crime Awareness week aims to highlight the issue of hate crime and encourage victims, and anyone who knows or suspects incidents of such crime, to report it.

The Harrow council organised event will be held at the Redbrick Café in the Wealdstone Centre from 11am to 3pm on Thursday, October 15.

Acting Detective Inspector said: “We are committed to tackling hate crime in all its forms, and have long since recognised the impact of hate crime on communities and the hidden nature of this crime, which remains largely under reported.

“We take positive action to investigate all hate crime allegations, support victims and their families and bring perpetrators to justice.

“We are always seeking ways to increase reporting and work with a number of third party reporting sites, so that victims who would otherwise feel unable to approach police direct can report crime to non-police organisations and individuals.”

Victims of hate crime can in addition now report online on the MPS website.

If you or someone you know is suffering hate crime, or has suffered hate crime in the past, please contact police on 101.
